Norden Festival 2025: Experience lights, music and art in Schleswig!

The Norden Festival 2025 will be staged in Schleswig like a shining ray of hope in the Bay of Kiel. From August 28th to September 7th, 2025, the Königswiesen will once again become a stage for culture enthusiasts from the entire region. This year, guests can expect a special highlight: a giant crab made from recycled plastic toys and slides will be included in the festival's art installations. In keeping with the spirit of sustainable events, the impressive “Nordic Lights” light tunnel, which stretches over an impressive 15 meters, will not be missing, as NDR Schleswig-Holstein reports.

Musically, the festival will be a real treat. On the first evening, August 30th, the well-known band “Selig” will be on stage, while the talented Lara Hulo, an up-and-coming artist from Schleswig, will delight her audience on August 29th. Visitors can look forward to the presence of three to five bands per day on two music stages. The program promises that things will be particularly impressive on September 6th with the Swedish sounds of Sunnan and the performance of “Moop Mama x Älice”.

Cultural diversity and workshops

In addition to the musical supporting program, a cultural tent will provide space for writers from Northern Europe, including the talented Simone Mischke. For those who want to do more than just listen, there are almost 50 workshops on the schedule - from making flower wreaths to sign language interpreting. The following applies here: If you are very interested, you will find it!

An absolute must-see will be the impressive looping swing “Kiiking” from Estonia, which will amaze the audience. The open-air ring also provides varied entertainment with acrobatic troupes such as “Cirque on Edge” on September 4th. In the cinema tent you will be able to see short and feature films from the north - cinematic treats that you shouldn't miss.

Ticket prices and arrival

The ticket prices are family-friendly: day tickets cost 25 euros on Saturday and 19 euros on the other days. Family passes for a total of eight days are available for 198 euros - hurry up now because the festival passes are almost sold out! Getting there is also uncomplicated: parking spaces are limited due to limited availability, but the parking garage on Schwarzen Weg is open until 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays. If you don't want to use your car, you can easily take the city bus towards the ZOB or use the pick-up service from “Smile 24” in the Schlei region.

In addition to this great event, the city of Barmstedt is providing additional cultural highlights with its cultural country weeks, which extend from July 19th to September 7th, 2025. This is all about Tunisia and the role of women in Muslim countries. A main exhibition called “Homage to Femininity” by Houda Ben Hamouda will not only illuminate the historical context, but also captivate visitors with musical acts, lectures and culinary delicacies. This shows us once again how lively the cultural scene is in Schleswig-Holstein - there's something going on!

With so many exciting activities on the horizon, head to the heart of Schleswig this summer and let yourself be enchanted by the Norden Festival. The cultural exchange and colorful hustle and bustle will certainly be a feast for all the senses!
