Well owners in Husum beware! Next Monday, June 30, 2025, you have the opportunity to have your water samples analyzed free of charge. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. you can bring your well water to the market square. The large, yellow VSR water protection mobile laboratory is ready to help you identify possible groundwater pollution. Because let's be honest, many people don't know that their water is often contaminated with nitrates, pesticides and other invisible substances.
Last year, over 50 citizens took advantage of this opportunity. Frank Sombrowski and Matthias Ahlbrecht, committed volunteers who travel in the mobile laboratory, are available to provide information about the most important aspects of water testing. You only have to pay 12 euros for a basic test, in which nitrate levels, acidity and salt levels are examined. After the analysis, you will receive your individual report conveniently by post.
About the water analysis offer
The VSR water protection offering goes beyond simple basic investigations. The mobile laboratory also analyzes other parameters that provide information about the suitability of your water for various applications. This includes, among other things, information on iron, pH value and even bacteria such as coliform germs or E.coli. This can be particularly important to eliminate health risks from contaminated water.

At the information stand you will not only have the opportunity to have your water checked, but you will also receive valuable tips on how to use water sustainably in the garden. It is recommended to only water in the morning or evening to optimize water consumption. At the same time, you will get an insight into the nitrate map in order to better understand the pollution in Schleswig-Holstein.
