Gigantic wind turbines in Obernwohlde: Civil concerns are growing!
There is currently excitement in the Stockelsdorf community about planned changes to the Obernwohlde wind farm. The new owner, the Spanish company Qualitas Energy, is planning to renew the existing wind farm, which includes replacing 20 wind turbines. These new wind turbines could reach an impressive height of up to 261 meters, which is over 100 meters higher than the previous turbines with a hub height of 99 meters.
Mayor Julia Samtleben (SPD) reacts to the plans with concerns. Their statements make it clear that the current development plans, which provide for waterproof height restrictions in Stockelsdorf, continue to apply and that changes are only possible in agreement with the municipal committees. “There is something to be said,” she says, and emphasizes that the municipality has a duty to thoroughly examine all possible effects of the planned renovation before implementing the project.
Public concerns and information sessions
Residents are skeptical about the higher planned wind turbines and express concerns about possible impacts on the region. In order to give citizens the opportunity to voice their concerns, the municipality is planning an information event in Pronstorf on July 3rd, but a similar event in Stockelsdorf will not take place until new facts become available. This approach has triggered some critical questions from the population, such as: stodo.news reported.
In the context of the planned changes, the importance of repowering should not be underestimated. According to that Federal Environment Agency This is a crucial measure to achieve the federal government's energy and climate protection goals. By renewing old wind turbines, the installed capacity can be increased quickly, which not only promotes climate-friendly energy production, but can also reorganize and adapt the location itself.
Tax implications and revenue
The financial side of the matter is also interesting. Since 2021, 90 percent of trade tax payments from wind, solar and battery storage systems must remain where the burden is. This could lead to six-figure additional income for Stockelsdorf, an aspect that should not go unmentioned in the negotiations about the wind farm plans.
The community of Stockelsdorf is therefore facing a decisive turning point that can address both the natural environment and the municipal financial perspective. All eyes are on what happens next – and we’ll keep you updated!
