Storm warning in Schleswig-Holstein: strong gusts of up to 100 km/h expected!

Today, October 26, 2025, a storm over northern Denmark is causing uncomfortable weather in Schleswig-Holstein. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning of squalls for several regions, which is valid until Sunday evening at 8 p.m. The North Sea coast, the Baltic Sea and the Plön and Ostholstein districts as well as the Segeberg district are particularly affected. The warning level here is 2 out of 4, which indicates possible dangers such as falling branches and flying objects.

“The weather has its moods again,” you could say. Wind speeds mentioned in this warning can cause significant damage. A storm at force 9 can reach speeds of up to 88 km/h, while a severe storm at force 10 can reach speeds of up to 102 km/h and hurricane-like storms (force 11) can even reach speeds of up to 117 km/h. The affected citizens should therefore be careful and take precautionary measures.

Severe weather warnings in the region

In addition to the strong winds, the Severe Weather Center warns of possible storms in various areas, including the German Bight and the North Frisian Islands. The location map from the severe weather center is always up to date and offers valuable information about weather warnings. These range from advance warnings, which are issued up to 48 hours in advance, to acute warnings for imminent natural hazards.

The current weather situation shows that the DWD informed about the specified storm warning at midday on October 26th. According to the DWD meteorologists, Monday night will remain windy, especially on the Baltic Sea, where stormy gusts of around 70 km/h can develop. In the mountains even gusts of 75 to 80 km/h cannot be ruled out.

The weather in the coming days

The forecasts also indicate a mix of rain and possible thunderstorms. Brief thunderstorms could occur in the north, bringing local gusts of up to 85 km/h. The night of Monday will be followed by heavy rain, which can spread quickly and sometimes cause extremely high amounts of precipitation in certain regions. Previous thunderstorms could recur, turning the night into an adventure for unprepared passersby.

The DWD warning situation report has announced decent weather for the rest of the weekend. While the Schleswig-Holstein region is now feeling the winds more intensely, it is advisable to remain vigilant in the event of a sudden change in the weather and exercise the necessary caution in all outdoor activities.

The next updates will be published no later than 9 p.m. this evening. So stay tuned and pay attention to the current weather developments!
