Trip around the world by bike: two adventurers reach Istanbul!
There are adventures that make you forget everyday life and bring back the freedom of travel. Joshua Sellheim (22) and Noah Will (21) are exactly such adventurers. Three months ago they set out on a bike tour around the world, and some exciting stages are already behind them. As the LN Online According to reports, the two have covered over 4,200 kilometers so far, which corresponds to 10% of the entire route. They spend around 250 hours in the saddle – a lot going on! With an average speed of 17 km/h, the two of them are making good progress.
Rain, headwinds and icy temperatures down to minus six degrees characterized the first days of their journey. They actually wanted to go over the Sölk Pass in Austria, but due to snow they had to change their plans and take the train to Graz. From there they continued to Ljubljana and finally to Rijeka, where they reached the Mediterranean. These first experiences were not exactly without challenges. They spent many nights in tents and were sometimes forced to sleep in barns and at bus stops.
Individual experiences and encounters
In Slovenia they experienced a very special night: a pack of wolves kept them in suspense. Their journey also took them through Croatia, where they took ferries to the islands of Krk, Rab and Pag. Impressive ruins and partly destroyed buildings reminded them of the region's warlike past. They were particularly happy about the hospitality they experienced in Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo. Here they received up to 20 invitations per day!
North Macedonia was the next adventure. There were encounters with loose street dogs there. Finally they reached Thessaloniki, where they seized the opportunity and took advantage of the Aegean Sea for a refreshing swim. After 3,500 kilometers and numerous experiences, they found themselves in Istanbul, where they visited the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.
Continue through Cappadocia and beyond
Joshua and Noah are currently in Cappadocia, where they not only explore the impressive landscape, but also face the challenges of heat and water scarcity. Last but not least, they met a helpful shepherd who filled their drinking bottles. A real ray of hope in the adventurous landscape!
When it comes to their next two destinations, they are determined: They plan to travel to the Black Sea and on to Georgia shortly. This means you still have a lot to experience on your unique trip.
Travel trip to Albania
For those who are still looking for new travel destinations, a cycling trip to Albania could be interesting. From June 20, 2025, the route will go from Tirana, the capital, across Lake Ohrid to Korçë and further through the Germenj National Park. The trip also includes visits to the Albanian Riviera and the historic ruins of Butrint, such as Viking travel informed. A real highlight!
An exciting journey that not only combines enjoyment, but also culture and nature. However, anyone who sets out should think about their travel documents: a valid passport or identity card that is valid for at least three months upon departure is required Savior travel summarizes. With the right plan and the right equipment, nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable experience!
