It's that time again in the provost! The popular Probsteier Korntage are just around the corner and will last five weeks for the first time this year. The Probstei Tourism Association (TVP) not only impresses with its long tradition, as the event has been taking place for 23 years, but also with its varied and exciting program. On Saturday, July 12, 2025, it starts with a colorful start at 1 p.m. in Wendtorf.
A special highlight will be the proclamation of the new Probsteier Kornmajesties, which will take place around 3 p.m. In the hours that follow, visitors can look forward to a varied supporting program: live music from the “Eintracht Schönberg” choir, a discussion with the grain majesties and the presentation of vintage cars by the vintage car enthusiasts Probstei. There is the opportunity for the little ones to make creative straw figures. From 6 p.m. regional bands will show off their skills, including “Under Pressure” with rock and pop covers, “Nashville City” for fans of country rock and “Gwendoline” with hits by the doctors.
Straw figures – works of art in 19 villages
A central element of the Probsteier Korntage are the impressive straw figures, which are set up in a total of 19 villages. These colorful and sometimes oversized works of art attract many visitors and offer great photo opportunities. The highlights include a huge fish sandwich in Laboe, a ten-meter-long fishing boat in stone and a five-meter-high Schönberger windmill in the Probstei Museum. You can also look forward to “Slanted Birds” in Wendtorf and a detailed Krummbeker Wall in Krummbek. Signs show the right way to the straw figures so that no one gets lost!
For the active visitors there is the opportunity to take part in guided bike tours or car tours to view the straw figures. Anyone who would like to record their experiences has the opportunity to take part in the new stamp game. From July 12, 2025, you can collect a special stamp on each straw figure with the aim of filling all 19 fields of a coupon. The fully stamped coupons can be submitted until August 13, 2025 to be entered into a drawing for restaurant vouchers.
