Burglary in Felm: jewelry and cash stolen – police are asking for information!
On Tuesday, October 15, 2025, there was a brazen break-in in Felm, in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. Perpetrators forced open a side door and searched the entire house for valuables. They stole four-figure amounts of jewelry and cash. The residents were not at home between the afternoon and 10:30 p.m. and only discovered the break-in when they returned. They immediately alerted the police, who are now looking for clues about the perpetrators. The Eckernförde criminal police are asking residents between Osdorf and Felm to check their video surveillance recordings. Suspicious observations can be reported by calling 04351/89212 600.
This excavation is not the first incident of its kind in the region. The Rendsburg area has recently been affected by a series of burglaries, as reported by ndr.de. On January 21, 2025, two men aged 40 and 55 were arrested after an alert citizen noticed a suspicious vehicle. The suspects are accused of breaking into several single-family homes in the previous weeks, including in the Borgstedt, Hohenwestedt and Remmels area. Both men are currently in custody.
Increasing number of burglaries in Germany
But not only in Rendsburg, but also throughout Germany, residential burglary remains a serious security risk. According to the Emergency Call Experts, there were a total of 78,436 registered cases in 2024, which represents a slight increase of 0.8% compared to the previous year. On average, a home break-in occurs every seven minutes in Germany. The daytime period is particularly attractive for burglars, as the 28,510 registered daytime home break-ins show.
Although the clearance rate has increased to 15.3%, it remains at an alarmingly low level. Statistics show that burglaries occur primarily in large cities, where the rate is up to three times higher than in rural areas. However, modern security technology, such as alarm systems and video surveillance, has a positive effect and can help deter potential perpetrators.
Prevention is key
The residents in Felm now need to remain vigilant and check their safety precautions. Whether technical security measures or active neighborhood networks – together you can prevent a break-in and make your surroundings safer. Police emphasize the importance of sticking together as a community and reporting suspicious activity immediately. This is the only way to possibly reduce the number of break-ins and increase security in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde region.
