Series of burglaries in Altenhof and Büdelsdorf: Police are looking for witnesses!

On Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, two high-profile break-ins occurred in Altenhof and Büdelsdorf, putting local communities on alert. Unknown perpetrators broke into several locations and stole high-quality tools and equipment. How kn online reported that a private tool shed in Altenhof was stolen. An alert homeowner noticed the break-in at around 10:20 p.m.

The perpetrators gained entry by forcing the door open. While the exact damage in Altenhof is still being determined, it is already clear that significant damage was also caused in Büdelsdorf. The workshop of a company on Wollinstrasse was attacked on the same night. Witnesses saw several suspicious people around 10:15 p.m. and reported this to the police. However, the burglars fled before emergency services arrived. They had stolen battery-powered devices from a company vehicle, which puts the estimated damage in Büdelsdorf in the mid four-digit range.

The numbers speak for themselves

These incidents are part of a worrying trend. According to information from Statista

Burglaries are particularly common in urban federal states, while in rural regions such as Bavaria the risk is significantly lower. Citizens' perceived security is increasingly suffering from these incidents, which not only impacts material integrity, but also affects their sense of security and personal well-being.

Police are asking for information

The Eckernförde criminal police and the Rendsburg police have started the investigation. In order to arrest the perpetrators, the authorities are relying on the support of the population. Witnesses who noticed something suspicious on the evening of the break-ins or who can provide information about the stolen items are asked to call 04351/89212-600 (Eckernförde) or 04331/2080 (Rendsburg).

It remains to be seen whether these calls will result in new leads. One thing is certain: the safety of residents and the protection of their property should have the highest priority - not just here in Altenhof and Büdelsdorf, but everywhere in the region.

There was already a similar incident in Altenhof in January 2025, in which perpetrators stole tools worth over 35,000 euros. Back then, too, doors were forced open and various equipment, including a riding lawn mower with a trailer, was missing the next morning. Bild.de reported that in this case too, the police asked witnesses for help.
