AKN route cancellations: Buses replace trains on A1 and A2!
AKN passengers will have to prepare for some changes in the coming weeks. From next Monday to Sunday, a construction site operation will ensure that the AKN lines A1 and A2 will be severely restricted. Loud NDR On the A1 line, all trains between Ulzburg Süd (Segeberg district) and Eidelstedt are canceled, while on the A2 in Kaltenkirchen Süd, switches are being replaced, which also severely affects train traffic between Kaltenkirchen and Kaltenkirchen Süd.
The AKN has set up replacement buses for the affected routes in order to enable passengers to continue their journey as seamlessly as possible. These buses stop at stops close to the regular train stops, but bicycles are not permitted on the replacement buses. It should also be noted that journey times will usually be longer by around 20 minutes and departure times may vary. Notices are provided at the stops to provide travelers with detailed information.
Past disruptions and future planning
These restrictions are not the first of their kind this year. On October 10th and 11th, 2025, all trains on the AKN route between Norderstedt and Ulzburg Süd were canceled due to extensive track work. These take place daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition to these current changes, there will also be further work on the A1 line next week from October 20th to 27th, 2025, which will aim to replace switches and carry out maintenance work on a bridge. A replacement bus service was also organized here.
Passengers are encouraged to check current travel times. A detailed overview of the approximate journey times is provided by the AKN, while information on disruptions, delays and other relevant topics can also be accessed on bahn.de.
The role of public transport in the mobility transition
The challenges posed by construction and maintenance work are part of a larger plan to improve infrastructure and promote sustainable mobility. It is the responsibility of all stakeholders to communicate these changes transparently in order to provide users with the best possible support not only on their way to work, but also on their everyday journeys.
