KPV Segeberg demands fair finances for municipalities: support now!

In the Segeberg district, the focus is on supporting the municipalities: At the recent CDU district party conference in Bad Bramstedt, the Local Political Association (KPV) unanimously passed a motion that calls for fairer financial resources for the municipalities. A step that is not only objectively necessary, but also intended to strengthen citizens' trust in local politics can be found at [stadtmagazin-sh.de].

This proposal is not just lip service - it aims at a fundamental reorganization of the financial relationships between the federal, state and local governments. On November 22nd, the adjusted proposal will be discussed again at the CDU state party conference in Neumünster. This requires that the transferor's responsibility for new tasks also be accompanied by permanent financing. The goal is clear: reliable financing that enables municipalities to sustainably manage key future tasks such as infrastructure, education, digitalization, environmental protection and social offerings.

Urgent financial need

Uwe Voss, the district chairman of the KPV Segeberg, emphasizes that without sufficient resources, the citizen-oriented fulfillment of these tasks will be impossible. The KPV also takes care of local elected officials. Fair compensation for expenses is required here, for example by increasing tax allowances or crediting pension points for long-term voluntary work. Interestingly, a “mayor’s pension” is thrown around as an example to honor the achievements of volunteers.

A further step could be to set the date for compensation after the 2028 local elections in order to avert accusations of self-service. With this measure, the KPV wants to underline how important appreciation is for new interested parties in local politics.
