Dream quota at the VHS: All participants graduate from school!
In Henstedt-Ulzburg, a brilliant result was recently celebrated at the closing ceremony of the preparatory course for the first general school leaving certificate. All nine participants in the course passed this important step with flying colors. Dr. Jochen Brems, the head of the adult education center (VHS), emphasized how significant this success is for the graduates, who often had to struggle with language barriers and only came to Germany a few years ago. However, they were able to overcome these sad circumstances with a lot of commitment and the support of an experienced team of teachers and send a positive signal for their future, which was also described as a “dream quota” by stadtmagazin-sh.de.
The course lasted a whole year, with the participants being taught the subjects German, mathematics, English, biology and geography every evening. They were supported by social-educational support from Michaela Wolf. Education manager Moritz Füller from the Segeberg district emphasized the importance of such educational offers, especially in times when the level of education is crucial for social participation and integration. A good level of education not only increases individual chances on the job market, but is also the foundation for a strong society and a growing economy, as explained on destatis.de.
A festive conclusion and a look into the future
The evening was also characterized by gratitude, as the graduates showed their appreciation with a self-prepared buffet during the celebration. Many of them now have the opportunity to begin training and thus actively participate in society. This shows how important it is to promote education to create equality and opportunity. The high pass rate of 100 percent that can be achieved through the VHS underlines that a good hand has been shown in imparting knowledge and skills.
The next opportunity for those interested to take part in this educational path themselves is just around the corner: The new course starts on September 8, 2025, and due to high demand it is almost fully booked. The courses take place in the VHS center at Hamburger Str. 24a, where learners are welcomed every evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Those interested have the opportunity to redeem an education voucher, which makes it easier to get started. Further information on how to take part can be found on the VHS Henstedt-Ulzburg website, or you can contact the VHS directly by phone or email.
The success of the graduates is not only a reason for joy for those affected, but also a valuable contribution to an inclusive society that values diversity. Social integration through education remains essential to meet the growing challenges in our increasingly diverse society.
