Big changes in the Taunus crime story: new inspector and exciting cases!”

There are fresh developments in the popular crime series “Taunuskrimi”. How Ruhr24 reports, there will be a big change in the cast: the previous inspector Pia Sander, played by Annika Kuhl, is leaving the series. Kuhl only took over the role from Felicitas Woll in 2022, but now fans have to prepare for a new investigator.

Marleen Lohse will portray the new inspector Kathrin von Steinburg and will bring a breath of fresh air to the series with her experience from the ARD crime series “Nord bei Nordwest”. Lohse is also known from various children's series, which could ensure her a wide range of viewers.

Premiere with innovations

The new episodes focus on fresh storylines and upcoming criminal cases. The two-part “In Eternal Friendship” will be broadcast on January 5th and 6th, 2026 at 8:15 p.m. This exciting double episode is about the disappearance of a woman and a dastardly bloodbath in her home. Once again the viewer is taken into the dark atmosphere of rural Taunus, where everything is certainly not as idyllic as it seems.

The investigation leads the inspectors to a Frankfurt literary publisher that is plagued by family disputes and accusations of plagiarism. This is where the typical intrigue that the series is known for unfolds and the tension rises as the cases have to be solved.

A look at the template

The “Taunus crime thriller” is based on the novels by Nele Neuhaus, which has not only captured the hearts of readers with its stories, but has also adapted numerous crime novels for television. Neuhaus, who began writing at the age of five, has established herself as one of the most important voices in the German crime genre.

Her work includes the popular Bodenstein and Kirchhoff series, which is characterized by a characteristic local color. This combines exciting cases with the peculiarities of the region. It remains exciting to see how the new episodes of the “Taunuskrimi” meet the fans’ expectations and how Lohse performs in her new role.

Additional attention should be paid to the characters' backstory, because the characters' fates are often deeply intertwined. For example, the missing Marie Kerstner and the unexplained death of Isabel Kerstner will be a central topic in the coming case. The depths of human relationships and the challenges in rural Taunus are once again in focus.

Stay tuned for new twists and turns in the New Year and how the series will continue to captivate viewers with unexpected engagements and secrets!
