Steinburg district: Corona cases at zero – what does that mean for us?

What is happening in Germany regarding Corona? In Schleswig-Holstein, and especially in the Steinburg district, there is a positive picture. According to the latest reports from news.de No new COVID-19 infections were recorded on July 17, 2025. The 7-day incidence is also 0.0 per 100,000 inhabitants. That's good news for everyone in the district!

In the overall picture of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, the numbers look somewhat different. A total of 5 new infections were registered here, which corresponds to a 7-day incidence of 1.2 per 100,000 inhabitants. Despite these new infections, the total number of people testing positive in the country remains relatively high at 1,204,293, with the age group with the most infections being 35 to 59 years old.

Current situation in Germany

The site reports on the entire Federal Republic corona-in-zahlen.de of 83 new infections today, which corresponds to a 7-day incidence of 0.7. A total of 39,063,947 cases have been identified in Germany and the number of deaths is 187,754. It is interesting to know that the mortality rate remains stable at 0.48%. Here, too, it is clear that the older age groups are particularly affected.

The numbers by age group are particularly revealing. The death rate is particularly pronounced in older age groups, which is why vaccination efforts continue to be important. This is where the vaccination rate comes into play. According to Statista, a total of 76.3% of the population in Germany had been basic immunized by April 8, 2023. Booster vaccinations are also very popular: 62.8% have already had a booster dose. This shows that the population is playing along well to protect themselves and others.

New Corona variant Nimbus

What happens next with the new Corona variant “Nimbus” (NB.1.8.1)? This was discovered in January 2025 and classified by the WHO as a “variant under observation”. Fortunately, there is so far no evidence of more severe disease progression, which gives hope that we can better manage possible future waves.

The numerous reports and updates on the situation show that there is a ray of hope: the broad vaccination rate and the stable number of cases are a clear indicator that the measures that society has taken protect both young and old people. It remains to be hoped that most of us will continue to pay attention to our health and get through these challenging times together.
