A new wind at RKiSH: Sönke Lase takes over management!

On November 1, 2025, Sönke Lase took on the exciting role as the new managing director of the emergency services cooperation in Schleswig-Holstein (RKiSH) gGmbH. This change comes after Michael Reis, who has led the company since its founding in 2005, retired after 20 years. Reis leaves behind an impressive balance sheet, because under his leadership the RKiSH grew into the largest municipal rescue service in Germany with over 1,600 employees and more than 260,000 missions annually, spread across 45 locations in five districts.

Sönke Lase has an impressive career. The 53-year-old was previously head of the rescue service of the Bavarian Red Cross in Munich, where he worked with around 550 employees. His training as a business economist in the healthcare sector and his qualifications as an emergency paramedic and practice instructor have prepared him well for his new role. Lase expressed the desire to continue the successful history of RKiSH and build on the existing successes. Jan Osnabrügge, the deputy managing director, praised Michael Reis in a speech for his commitment and expertise and wished Sönke Lase much success in his new position. Reis himself expressed his confidence in Lase's abilities and wished him well.

Review of Michael Reis

Michael Reis, 65 years old, has played a crucial role in the development of RKiSH with his tireless commitment and vision. He not only shaped the company, but also made a significant contribution to improving the emergency services in Schleswig-Holstein. It remains to be seen in which direction Sönke Lase will lead the RKiSH under his leadership. Lase was formally appointed as managing director by the supervisory board and shareholders in May.
