In a recent announcement, a significant repair to the traffic lights in the direction of North/Lübeck will be carried out at the A1 Bargteheide junction on Tuesday November 4th. The work will begin at 7 a.m. and will last until around 5 p.m., with the traffic lights being taken out of service from 9 a.m. in order to replace the control technology. Drivers should be prepared for traffic delays and are therefore asked to drive through the area with particular caution.
As ln-online.de reports, the defective traffic light system at the Hammoorer Hauptstrasse intersection was in the a real accident hotspot in recent months. Collisions occurred here several times in which at least twelve people were injured, some of them seriously. Against this background, it is hoped that the upcoming repairs will bring an end to the dangerous situation.
Cause and solution
Autobahn GmbH is responsible for the defective traffic lights and commissioned a specialist company to repair it in August. Fortunately, the technology is being completely renewed, although the controls recently worked again. This measure is intended not only to increase safety, but also to strengthen road users' trust in the transport infrastructure.
The previous problems at this busy intersection have put a lot of strain on residents and commuters over the months. It is obvious that a solution must be found as quickly as possible to ensure safety for all road users. “There is something going on,” those responsible are certain, and the upcoming work is a step in the right direction.
