On Saturday afternoon, October 4th, 2025, there was a tragic traffic accident on the village road (L123) between Kutenholz-Essel and Bremervörde-Hesedorf. A 60-year-old driver from Kutenholz, who was driving his Dacia Logan, lost control of his vehicle in a left-hand bend around 3:30 p.m. due to the wet road. The Dacia spun into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a VW Polo, which was being driven by a 34-year-old man from Bremervörde. Unfortunately, the older driver later succumbed to his serious injuries in the Hamburg hospital after he had to be freed by the fire department. His younger opponent, however, was seriously injured, but his life is not in danger and was taken to hospital in Bremervörde, as Polizei.news reports.
The accident led to a large deployment of rescue workers. Two ambulances, an emergency medical vehicle and a rescue helicopter were on site. These helicopters, essential in emergencies, ensure quick assistance, especially in traffic accidents where every second counts. According to TAG24, the helicopter squadrons in Germany are operational around the clock and offer support in critical situations.
A detailed investigation
On the orders of the Stade public prosecutor's office, the police called in an accident expert to reconstruct the exact circumstances of what happened. Modern techniques such as the photoscan process were used to precisely document the accident site. In order to ensure the safety of vehicle drivers and pedestrians on this busy street, the village street was completely closed until the evening hours. Both the Dacia Logan and the VW Polo had to be towed away after the accident was recorded, while specialist companies and the road maintenance department were commissioned to clean the road.
