Film festivals in autumn: Tübingen, Biberach and Landau shine!
There's a lot going on in the world of films right now! While the leafing trees usher in autumn, several film festivals decorate German cinema with their splendor. The Tübingen Film Days, the Biberach Film Festival and La.Meko in Landau are just some of the events that present cinematic highlights. From October 29th to November 5th, 2025, Tübingen will be the venue for the largest showcase for Francophone cinema in Germany. There, visitors can marvel at a wide range of long and short films from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and even Africa. The event is artistically directed by Lisa Haußmann and this year has a special focus on the children's and family program.
A special treat is the program highlight “À Bicyclette”, a bicycle road movie by director Mathias Mlekuz. This film, inspired by the processing of his son's death, impresses with a lot of improvisation and a flowing script. Fans of Francophile film art will get their money's worth here!
Film festival dedicated to history and creativity
Just around the corner, in Biberach, the Biberach Film Festival will take place from October 29th to November 2nd, 2025. This festival is one of the few in Germany that focuses on German-language productions. With over 50 feature films, documentaries and short films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a wide range is offered. A highlight of this festival is the historical thriller “Star Hour of the Murderers” based on Pavel Kohout, which is set in Prague in 1945 and addresses huge themes.
The family atmosphere ensures that filmmakers and audiences can have direct conversations. The honorary beaver, which will be awarded this year to the acting icon Nastassja Kinski, ensures special recognition. A real festival for cinema lovers that inspires!
La.Meko: An anniversary for short films
And don't forget: La.Meko is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Landau! With a total of 75 short films from 26 countries, the festival is a real highlight. The films, which are up to 30 minutes long, include everything from animation to comedies to music clips. What is particularly exciting is that the audience decides which short film will receive the coveted prize - an interactive experience that actively involves the audience.
But the enjoyment of film art won't end soon! From November 20th to 26th, 2025, the French Film Week will take place in over 25 cities in Germany. From renowned previews to exclusive productions, the event is dedicated to the best and most current French cinema.
