There is sad news in the region: The traditional bakery Konditorei Mäschle GmbH & Co. KG has announced that it will be ceasing its business operations at the end of the month. This decision is the result of economic difficulties that led to the company's bankruptcy. In a statement, the Ravensburg District Court stated that insolvency proceedings were opened on October 1, 2025 due to insolvency and excessive indebtedness. Attorney Michael Wahl from Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH was appointed as insolvency administrator.
The bakery, which once had a proud branch network of 15 locations, was reduced to just 6 branches after changing its name to a GmbH. The branch in Ehingen had to be closed in January 2025, and liquidity problems arose again in August. The high running costs continued to put a strain on the company, which ultimately led to the company continuing to make losses despite the ongoing bankruptcy filing.

At a meeting, creditors unanimously agreed to close the five remaining branches. These will remain open until Friday, October 31st, before the doors finally close. According to the Institute for SME Research, a total of 21,812 companies filed for bankruptcy in 2024, an increase of 22.4% compared to the previous year.
