Biennale 2027: Submit project ideas now for creative diversity!

Something is happening in Sindelfingen! The Biennale, a cultural highlight of the city, is preparing for its next edition in 2027. Under the motto “Despite.Everything.Cheerful.” The board of trustees wants to create a space for joy of life and creative strength, even in challenging times. First Mayor Christian Gangl emphasizes how important it is to remain confident and deal positively with the challenges of everyday life, as Nussbaum reports.

From now until February 28, 2026, project proposals can be submitted to the Office for Culture. These suggestions should not only include the category of the event, such as musicals, theater or literature, but also the scope, the people involved, a rough financial framework and possible ideas for the venue. The board of trustees will examine the proposals received after the application period and develop the program structure for the 2027 Biennale in spring 2026, explains the Biennale-Sindelfingen website.

Culture in focus

The Biennale itself has established itself as an integral part of the cultural landscape since its founding in 2015. Six editions have already taken place so far, always focusing on the identity-building spirit of the city's anniversary in 2013. The next Biennale will take place in July 2027, and the previous events have always scored points - this proves their continuous growth and the enthusiasm of citizens for cultural events.

A key point of the Biennale is to promote a positive view of the world, even when, at first glance, there are difficult times in society. “With this biennale we want to create a space that connects and inspires,” says Markus Nau, head of the cultural department. His positive attitude, quoted by Karl Valentin, speaks volumes about the spirit that will be carried through the upcoming events.

Culture and European cooperation

And culture is not only important locally in Sindelfingen. At the European level, too, we actively keep our finger on the pulse. The European Union is committed to preserving common cultural heritage and strengthening the creative economy, as can be found on the EU website. But it's not just big festivals that are given space here - film festivals, concerts and a variety of other cultural initiatives are also regularly on the program.

The EU program “Creative Europe” supports these efforts and helps to open up new markets and target groups for the arts and creative industries. Every year, two cities are named cultural capitals, which not only gives a boost to cultural life, but also gives fresh impetus to the local economy.

In the midst of all these exciting developments, the request for project proposals for the 2027 Biennale is not only an opportunity for local artists, but also a significant step for the cultural landscape in Sindelfingen and beyond. We are excited to see what creative ideas will be put together by the end of February 2026!
