Last stage of Schönaicher Straße: full closure from October 9th!

The renovation work on Schönaicher Straße in Böblingen is nearing its end. With the start of the fifth and final section on October 9, 2025, a long process that began in the summer of 2024 will come to an end. In this section, which extends at the level of Rosensteinstrasse, the main tasks are to replace water and gas pipes and renovate wastewater shafts. In addition, the road surface will be re-asphalted.

However, this is less good news for drivers, because Schönaicher Straße between Rosensteinstraße and Kalkofenstraße will be completely closed for the duration of the work. Rosensteinstrasse near the food market will also be affected, although access to this market from the direction of Baumoval remains possible. Pedestrians can pass through the area at any time. The diversion for vehicle traffic leads via Brunnenstrasse and Spielbergstrasse, but will remain in place for the duration of the construction site. This information is also confirmed by the city of Böblingen, which provides detailed information about the traffic restrictions on its website, including the closures of Dr.-Richard-Bonz-Straße and Freudenstädter Straße, which will also be planned in the near future.

Safely through the construction sites

What else could drivers and pedestrians expect? There are numerous other construction sites in Böblingen that are currently shaping the cityscape. For example, Harbigstrasse will be completely closed on November 18, 2025 due to a new mobile phone system. Calwer Street will also be closed in one of the turning lanes from October 13th to 17th, 2025 in order to repair the roadway. But don't worry: pedestrians can get through safely here too.

At all of these construction sites, the city has ensured that safe passage for pedestrians is always guaranteed. This shows the city's efforts to keep residents and passers-by in mind during all the necessary work. The current and upcoming closures aim to improve the infrastructure and thus increase security.

Long term perspective

The renovation work to date has not only included eliminating an accident hotspot, but also securing three intersections as well as installing new traffic lights and laying new lines. These measures are necessary to avoid future traffic problems and increase safety for all road users. The city of Böblingen is expected to be busy with the work on Schönaicher Straße and other measures until mid-December 2025.

Even if drivers have to accept some detours during this time, the long-term benefits are the main focus. This means Böblingen is well prepared for the future, and residents can look forward to a safe and modern traffic flow. Stay informed about developments in your city – we will keep you up to date!
