Schönaich celebrates 750 years: the parade inspires the crowd!

Schönaich, a small town with a great history, celebrated a very special anniversary last weekend: 750 years since it was first mentioned in documents. This impressive event was celebrated with a colorful festival weekend from July 11th to 13th, which appealed to residents and visitors alike. The highlight was a magnificent parade on Sunday afternoon, during which the streets of the town center were filled with happy people looking around for shady places.

The festival began on Friday evening with a celebratory opening act in the large festival tent. The band “Lausbuba” provided the musical entertainment, while regional dignitaries gave greetings. The traditional tapping of the barrel was also a must, which immediately lightened the atmosphere. On Saturday the events around the community hall continued lively. A large fairground with twelve rides and countless stalls attracted young and old, while visitors chatted at various hands-on activities and information stands. Culinary delicacies from the local clubs ensured that no one went hungry!

A celebration for all generations

What was particularly pleasing was the participation of over 1,500 people in more than 22 groups and clubs, including the little ones from kindergarten and some charming German Shepherds. Mayor Anna Walther and Daniel Kretzschmar, chairman of the Hasenbühl Witches, were on hand to make the colorful procession an unforgettable experience. The procession itself stretched from the fire station across Bühlstrasse to Im Hasenbühl Street and finally turned to the sports hall.

On Sunday, an ecumenical service began the day in contemplation, followed by a citizens' breakfast, which was accompanied by the sounds of the accordion club. The parade was the highlight of the day - with historical representations and plenty of music, it started promptly at 2 p.m. This festive event was rounded off by the band “Die Echterdinger” and local brass bands, who created the right atmosphere.

Cultural roots and community spirit

Cultural festivals like this not only provide a glimpse into the region's history and customs, but also promote community spirit. This became more than clear in Schönaich through the various activities. The event made it clear how important such festivals are for social interaction and strengthening regional identities. They create a space for social interaction between young and old and show the colorful hustle and bustle that can be found in many small towns in Germany. Festivals like this are just fun and give residents a great opportunity to live and celebrate their traditions.

Parades, culinary specialties and music from local bands made the festival in Schönaich an unforgettable experience. It is gratifying to see how the community sticks together and gives such events a worthy setting. Let us hope that such traditions continue and remain a source of joy for many generations to come.
