On Sunday, June 15, 2025, a lightning strike caused excitement at the Friedrichshof horse farm in Keltern. At around 1 p.m., lightning struck a large riding hall with an area of 1,200 square meters and immediately caused a fire. Firefighters from several surrounding communities were immediately alerted to control the flames. Powerful eyewitness reports describe how a loud bang ripped through the area and a massive fire broke out a short time later. The clouds of smoke were visible as far away as Pforzheim and looked beyond the city into the surrounding area.
Information from residents shows that fortunately no animal was harmed, which has not yet been commented on by the police. The extinguishing work is still ongoing, but there is still hope that the fire will be controlled quickly.
Major fire in Bad Wildbad
While the fire brigade is on duty in Keltern, another incident is reported in the region. That same evening, at 10:50 p.m., there was a major fire on Wildbader Weg in Bad Wildbad-Meistern. A lightning strike is also suspected to be the cause here. The fire affected a horse stable and an adjacent residential building. Fortunately, the residents were able to escape to safety unharmed. Villagers helped rescue six horses from the burning stable and even the stable cat was able to escape from the building without being injured.
