Construction work in Esslingen: Zebra crossing on June 16 on each side!

In Esslingen-Sulzgries there is an important construction site: on Monday, June 16, 2025, the construction work on the crosswalk in Kelterstrasse begins. The necessary measures should help increase security for pedestrians. However, consumers in the area, especially parents of school children, are important to know that the work is expected to take two to three days. During this time, the roadway is blocked, which causes bus traffic restrictions.

The “Bergstrasse” stop is particularly affected, which cannot be operated by bus lines 109 and 132 during the construction work. In order to help the affected passengers, the municipal transport company uses a minibus that runs between the Bergstrasse and the “Maienwalterstraße”. There, travelers can switch to lines 109 and 132 and continue their usual routes, even if the detours mean a certain effort.

additional security measures

An important reason for the construction work is the installation of a new lighting on the crosswalk. In the past few months, the access to the Sulzgries primary school and the confluence with Sulzgrieser Straße have already been redesigned, whereby the security at these much frequented areas was noticed. Nevertheless, due to delivery delays, the new lighting could not be installed in time. These restrictions are particularly annoying because the good recognizability of pedestrians, especially in the dark, is crucial for their security.

The mobile lighting that is currently installed meets the highest requirements. According to the road traffic regulations, pedestrians have priority at pedestrian crossings, and the regulations require additional lighting to improve visibility. It is undisputed that the existing street lighting is often not sufficient. That is why modern LED lamps come into play that offer a light color of normal white with 4,000 Kelvin, ideal for road and pedestrian crossings. These ensure that pedestrians are clearly recognizable at dusk and in foggy conditions.

The projects in the Esslingen urban area are not only important for the direct increase in traffic safety, they also show the city's commitment to continuously improve the infrastructure. We very much appreciate the neighboring city that the city is implementing such measures so that we can certainly shape our everyday life. Even if the construction work brings short -term inconvenience, there is a safer environment and better traffic conditions at the end of these measures.
