On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A6 motorway, near St. Leon-Rot, just before the Walldorf motorway junction. Shortly after 5:00 p.m., a 37-year-old driver of a BMW collided with several warning signs, forcing him to take evasive action. This led to a collision with an Audi driven by a 41-year-old woman. Both vehicles hit the guardrail and left the road.
The accident ended dramatically with both vehicles being totaled. A total of eight people were injured, including three children aged 8, 10 and 12 who were in the Audi. The other injured people consisted of other occupants of both vehicles. All were immediately taken to surrounding clinics, both report Metropol Journal as well as Pressemeier.
Course of the accident and consequences
The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing. Initial reports indicate that the BMW driver collided with the warning signs due to carelessness. A quick turn to the right led to a collision with the Audi, causing both drivers to lose control of their vehicles. The consequences were not only material damage, but also physical injuries to the occupants, which, according to initial information, were rather minor.
The motorway had to be closed in the area of the hard shoulder and right lane until 8:32 p.m. for various measures, including the towing of the vehicles and the cleaning of the road by a specialist company. Fortunately, traffic was maintained in the remaining lanes.
