Summer surprise: 100 new train connections for holiday travelers!

This summer, to be exact from today, July 14th, 2025, for many travelers it's time to get on the train! Despite the public discussions about possible service cuts in long-distance transport, Deutsche Bahn (*DB*) is presenting special summer promotions. Around 100 additional long-distance connections to popular holiday destinations in Germany and neighboring European countries bring a breath of fresh air to travel planning.

The new direct connections that will run on the rails in summer 2025 are particularly attractive. There are, among other things, daily connections from Munich to Ancona in Italy. The trains leave Munich every day at 9:33 a.m. and reach their destination at 7:10 p.m. The return journey takes place at 11:30 a.m. with arrival back in Munich at 8:26 p.m. The route to Bologna is now even easier for every traveler: a Railjet leaves Munich at 3:33 p.m. and is scheduled to arrive at 10:11 p.m. The return journey from Bologna is at 9:52 a.m. and takes passengers back to Munich at 4:27 p.m.

New international connection

For romantic travelers, the TGV runs from Frankfurt to Bordeaux on eight Saturdays between July 5th and August 30th. Departure is at 6:56 a.m. and the picturesque river town is reached at 2:35 p.m. We then return at 3:56 p.m., arriving in Frankfurt at 11:50 p.m. On additional Saturdays until October 4th, travelers can travel from Wiesbaden to St. Anton am Arlberg, arriving at 4:00 p.m. and returning at 12:13 p.m.

There are also new regional transport connections for the more adventurous travelers. On summer weekends, the trains travel from Berlin to Chemnitz and arrive at 10:52 a.m. after about two hours of travel. The retreat returns at 5:08 p.m. Additional ICE connections between Berlin and Rostock and a direct connection from Dresden to the Baltic Sea are also offered on weekends.

Attractive ticket offers

The DB not only attracts customers with new connections, but also with attractive ticket offers. Travelers can look forward to special prices, including the Super Sparpreis ticket from 6.99 euros. For young passengers under the age of 27, there is the 44-hour Young ticket, valid on July weekends, which allows unlimited travel in Germany. BahnCard 50 holders can also benefit until September 30th by being able to take a fellow traveler with them at no additional cost.

If you book early, you can save a whopping 20% on flex prices if you book more than 28 days in advance. The DB also allows flexible price tickets to be returned free of charge up to one day before the first day of validity, which gives any travel planning a little more security.

Anyone who decides to book a ticket should pay attention to the different categories of tickets when selecting the connection: In Europe, tickets can often be divided into two main categories - advance purchase and day of travel. If you book in advance, you can save a lot here. Another obvious tip is to make the booking conveniently online via platforms such as Trainline. Mobile tickets that are applied for via the app also save you the hassle of paper tickets.

With these new connections and offers, nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable summer holiday by train. Pack your bags and enjoy the trip!
