Lörrach fire department impresses with spectacular final exercise!
There was once again a lot going on in the city of Lörrach on October 26, 2025. The fire department carried out an impressive final exercise in which the scenario depicted an accident between Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and Basler Straße. The alarm was raised at 7:05 p.m. and emergency services quickly set off. A total of 73 emergency services were on site, including technical aid consultants and water and gas experts, to deal with the situation. Residents in Stetten were able to observe the vehicles moving out; The site was closed to allow the helpers to work undisturbed.
The exercises included fire brigades, rescue platoons, and even multicopters and drones. A technical special feature was the “Mess-Tech” equipment trolley, which was used alongside the fall protection. Under the direction of Pietro Parasiliti and his section leaders Andreas Rogler, Mathias Spinner and Thomas Steinmann, the armament truck was positioned, which was equipped with hydraulic devices such as scissors and spreaders. They are very popular with emergency services, especially when it comes to rescuing drivers from damaged vehicles.
Mastering technical challenges
A tank fire engine was ready to intervene quickly in the event of a fire. The challenge: gasoline had leaked and binding agent was spread to limit environmental damage. Respiratory masks were not only a preventive measure for the firefighters, but also a necessity because other injured people were found who had been thrown out of the vehicles. Modern drone technologies were used, which provided a valuable overview of the entire situation.
Interestingly, three wastewater disposal employees also had to intervene due to suspicion of gasoline in the sewer system. The interaction between different departments and effective communication between the emergency services were strengthened by this exercise in realistic conditions. After the official end at 8:30 p.m., it was important to carefully remove all traces of the operation. Mayor Jörg Lutz was among the spectators during the event and praised the excellent work of the men and women in uniform.
Pollutant exercise in Wilhelmsburg
The Wilhelmsburg fire department deployed an HLF 3, KDOF-A and a VF-A to prepare for the emergency. The research results showed that only self-contained respiratory protection was necessary for the emergency services, so that the respiratory protection team could equip themselves with protective equipment. These exercises are an exciting part of the training, which is also offered at the BOS Academy in Kaiserslautern. Not only are regular training courses for emergency services on the agenda, but also training for special situations that may be necessary in the current situation. The work of the fire brigades is constantly being developed in order to meet future challenges. Whether in a chemical accident or a serious traffic accident - the exercises show how important regular training and cooperation between the various institutions are. Only through constant further education and training can the emergency services respond when it matters most.
