A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday evening on the B38 federal highway when a 21-year-old driver drove into oncoming traffic heading into the city. Despite an attempted evasive maneuver by a 52-year-old driver who was traveling towards Käfertal, both drivers were unable to avoid a collision. They crashed head-on into the respective vehicles at an estimated speed of 30 to 40 km/h, causing significant damage to both cars. Fortunately, both drivers only suffered minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation. That's what they report RNZ.
Friedrich-Ebert-Straße had to be closed in both directions while the accident was being recorded and the towing work was carried out, which led to traffic delays for several hours. However, the road was reopened to traffic at 11:40 p.m.

However, thanks to the resuscitation measures that were immediately initiated by a police patrol, something worse was prevented. The pedestrian was taken to hospital, but his life is no longer in danger. The incident also led to a backlog of over two kilometers, which further burdened the traffic situation.
