Fire in the Bensheimer Hotel: investigations into the cause are ongoing!
In Bensheim, more precisely in Europa-Allee, a fire in an empty hotel caused a stir on Sunday afternoon, November 9th. The fire department was alerted shortly before 1 p.m., but was able to quickly intervene on site and quickly bring the fire under control. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident, which alleviated the situation. The criminal police have now started investigating the cause of the fire and will determine the extent of the damage. What is particularly alarming is that intentional arson cannot be ruled out, as MRN-News reports.
The investigators are already active and are asking the public for help: Information and suspicious observations can be reported to Commissariat 10 in Heppenheim by calling 06252/7060. Such untoward events are always a reminder of the safety protocols in the region.
Experiences from the area
Similar past incidents in other cities caused a stir. For example, there was a fire in an empty hotel building on Brunnenstrasse in Brakel that broke out on February 16th of this year. The fire brigade had to deal with strong open flames and thick smoke. In this case, too, the population was warned to keep windows and doors closed. The aim was to cordon off the area over a wide area to protect residents. The extinguishing work continued late into the night. Police and fire investigators also looked around on site and secured initial information, but the exact causes remained in the dark for the time being, as LWZ24 reports.
The incidents show that vacant buildings pose a particular risk and can pose serious dangers to the neighborhood. It remains to be hoped that the investigations in Bensheim will quickly clarify the cause of the fire and that further misunderstandings or dangerous situations can be avoided. Stay alert and do not hesitate to inform the police if you see anything suspicious!
