Euro-Mir is being redesigned: a future vision for Europe's cult roller coaster!
Exciting changes are coming to the heart of Europa-Park in Rust, which opened its doors in 1975. The well-known roller coaster “Euro-Mir” will be revised in the next few years. Michael Mack, son of the park director, announced in an interview with Baden newspaper that the railway gets a new route without being torn down. This is part of a comprehensive plan to keep the park's attractiveness high.
A unique 360-degree approach is being sought for the new ride, which is based on the “Voltron Nevera” roller coaster opening in 2022. This impressive attraction offers a steep start and is considered one of the most exciting in its category. With a length of 1.4 kilometers, numerous flips and a weightlessness phase of 2.2 seconds, it ensures an incomparable experience. Roland Mack, managing director of Europa-Park, ceremoniously opened the roller coaster in front of around 400 invited guests, even though the sky was rainy that day.
From the roots to the modern thrill ride
Since its opening, the roller coaster landscape in Europa-Park has developed rapidly. From the first “Alpenexpress Gentian” in 1984 to the latest adrenaline machines such as the “Voltron Nevera”, the park offers a remarkable variety. The “Euro-Mir”, which was launched in 1997, is a spinning coaster with a track length of 980 meters and a top speed of 80 km/h. This roller coaster is now being upgraded to meet the expectations of visitors eager for new experiences. The development of attractions is not a one-time thing, but a continuous process that takes place over the years - this was also the case with the development of “Voltron Nevera”, which took five years and required 38 different layout designs.
Despite the plans for “Euro-Mir”, there are currently no new themed areas in Europa-Park. However, company boss Mack emphasized that there is space available for a maximum of two additional subject areas. The priority is currently on expansions in the “Rulantica” water world, where guests can look forward to additional attractions.
A look into the future
The plans for Europa-Park also include tentative dreams such as a cable car across the Rhine that could connect Rust with Alsace. However, this project is not being pushed forward with pressure, but remains a concept that is still in the room. Mack specified that the park's growth should not be unlimited. Instead, you want to make the best possible use of the existing area.
Europa-Park is celebrating its 50th birthday with great celebration. With this anniversary it becomes clear that the park is not only a place of pleasure, but has also become a part of European leisure tourism stories. This is not just fun, but also an exciting story.
For every adrenaline junkie and amusement park lover, Europa-Park remains a real mecca that is constantly on the move and always offers new experiences. It will be exciting to see what adventures the future has in store for Europa-Park!
