Border controls: Successful use against crime and migration!
Today, October 31, 2025, the current developments on the German-French border show once again how committed the security forces are here. The Offenburg Federal Police Inspectorate and the French Gendarmerie have called for a large-scale operation to combat the unpopular illegal migration and crime. Such actions are not uncommon in the region; A targeted check was carried out today, which was also supported by a helicopter from the Oberschleißheim Federal Police Aviation Squadron.
Checkpoints were set up at strategically important locations on the French side, including Vogelgrun and Schwindratsheim. There was an incident at the Neuried/Altenheim border crossing in which a man from Azerbaijan attempted to enter Germany without permission. His attempt failed and officials sent him back to France, where charges were filed against him.
Detected violations and seizures
Another case concerns a Cameroonian with a French residence permit who assisted an undocumented Guinean. He is now also being reported for aiding and abetting attempted entry. This shows that action is being taken against networks that often exploit freedom of movement. But it wasn't just human entry that was the focus of the controls. A Syrian who transported 499 perfume bottles to Germany without the required labels and manufacturer information was also stopped. The bottles were confiscated and the Ortenaukreis veterinary office is taking over further processing.
In addition, a French woman had to hand over her banned irritant spray device and an electrical impulse device. Such devices are not only dangerous in public, but are also strictly prohibited. In other places such as Sasbach and Iffezheim, violations of the road traffic law were also found, which are being further investigated by the state police. Officers from various police services were involved in this extensive operation, including from Karlsruhe, Offenburg, Bad Bergzabern and Freiburg as well as the main customs offices in Lörrach and Karlsruhe.
Emergency forces in action
The intensive cooperation between the German-French gendarmerie operations unit and the federal police shows that the security situation at the border is being taken seriously. Such operations are not only important for combating crime, but also ensure that citizens have a feeling of security at the border. The people in the region can breathe a sigh of relief because the emergency services are showing a good hand in ensuring safety.
The challenges remain diverse and authorities are required to remain vigilant. It is gratifying to see that despite the everyday uncertainties, security at our borders is always our top priority. This makes it clear: crime has no place here, and the measures taken by the emergency services are an important step in the right direction.
