This is a relief for the Rhein-Neckar District Forestry Office, which, however, warns forest owners to be careful. In order to prevent the bark beetle from spreading again, infested trees must be removed as quickly as possible and the broken wood must be debarked after storm events. Falling bark can also offer the beetles a place to overwinter. Quick action is therefore required to keep the population in check. Forest owners are asked to keep a close eye on the infestation areas next spring 2026.

The current situation shows that a really good hand is needed to keep the forest healthy. However, it remains crucial to remain vigilant in the coming months.
