International picnic in Weinheim: The way to home is through your stomach!
The International Picnic in Weinheim is coming up and promises to be a colorful festival of cultures. On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5 p.m., the castle park meadow in Weinheim will be the scene of intercultural encounters where guests from all over the world come together. The motto of the event “The way to your home is through your stomach” speaks for itself: Not only what is on the table is shared here, but also the knowledge and experiences of the participants.
The organizer, Ada Götz, who works as the representative for the home days, invites everyone to bring their home-made food and to sit on one of the large, 4x5 meter patchwork blankets. This blanket is the result of a handcrafted project and symbolizes the diversity of the city's society. Registration is not required and disposable tableware should be avoided if possible.
A traditional event
The picnic takes place as part of the Heritage Days and is open to anyone interested. Previous events in June and July were received very positively by the participants, and even SWR reported live on the happy encounters. The next appointment will take place on September 17th, also from 5 p.m.
The event not only offers a variety of national cuisines, but also the opportunity to make new acquaintances and promote intercultural exchange. Special contributors like Barbara Mader and her team of twelve other supporters also ensure that everything runs smoothly and everyone can share a piece of home in their own way.
Diversity and community
Especially in these turbulent times, it is important to create meeting places where different cultures can talk to each other. The International Picnic goes far beyond just eating together. It is a platform to laugh together, exchange stories and experience the fascination of more than just a home. The atmosphere promises to be warm and welcoming, and anyone who wants is welcome.
The patchwork blanket not only represents a practical place, but also acts as a symbol of unity in the diversity of the participants. A good example of how a simple concept can become a great community experience. These initiatives not only strengthen neighborly relationships, but also the social diversity that makes our city so special.
So if you don't just want to experience good food but also a piece of home on August 20th, you should mark this date in red on your calendar. Will we see each other in Weinheim Castle Park?
