New building for the Rottweil district office: groundbreaking for the future!

Today, October 30, 2025, the new building for the Rottweil district office was officially rung in with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. District Administrator Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Michel welcomed Mayor Dr. Christian Ruf, representative of the district councils and everyone involved in the construction. This new building, which was designed as a symbol of sustainability, future viability and responsible action, is now on the way to realization.

The idea for the new building is not new: initial considerations began in 2008 to expand or redesign the existing building. After a thorough analysis and discussion, it was decided in 2019 to demolish the old high-rise and the adjacent Rundling and build a new headquarters instead. The district council then made the formal building decision in 2024, while the offices moved to temporary offices in the summer of the same year. The dismantling of the old buildings is currently scheduled for October 2024 to July 2025.

Sustainability and innovative construction

The new building will be constructed using a modern timber hybrid construction method in accordance with the KfW 40 standard. Great attention is paid to reducing energy consumption: innovative technologies such as heat pumps, photovoltaic systems and ice storage technology should enable savings of around 60%. The goal is to obtain the gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The building is characterized by its wooden facade, open floor plans and light-filled rooms designed to create a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

The design also envisages three standard floors, supplemented by a fourth level that houses a cafeteria, a meeting room and a roof garden. Particular attention was also paid to the security and data protection concept, which is implemented using a three-zone principle. On the ground floor, the focus remains on being close to the citizens, while the upper levels offer a protected area for administration.

Construction volume and thanks to those involved

The total construction costs for this ambitious project are estimated at around 78 million euros, which also includes the costs for dismantling and the excavation pit. At the ceremony, District Administrator Michel thanked everyone involved for their patience and the consistently good cooperation during the planning phase and construction. Such a new building will not only improve working conditions, but also represent a flagship project for the region.

The start of construction therefore represents an important step into the future of the administration. While local developments, such as the new district office building, are often neglected in the news, attention should continue to be focused on the social changes and progress that they bring with them.

Aside from municipal issues, it is clear that exciting developments are also taking place in the world of entertainment. For example, the popular Netflix series “Love Is Blind” has produced successful couples from its seasons who have now started families. Zack Goytowski and Bliss Poureetezadi-Goytowski are the first couple from Season 4 to welcome their daughter Galileo in May 2024. Bliss expressed her love for Zack in a Valentine's Day letter in 2025, calling him the best father she knows usmagazine.com.

This shows that not only the new district office building, but also the developments in the area of entertainment are exciting and show how modern life is constantly changing.
