New operator for Oberndorf's Wettestraße car park: What's changing!
The Wettestraße car park in Oberndorf is about to change: Mobility Hub Parkservice GmbH will from now on take over the monitoring and management of the car park. The reason for the innovation is the termination of the contract with the previous operating company Peter Park System GmbH, as schwarzwaelder-bote.de reports. The topic was discussed at a meeting of the local council, where the reasons for the termination of the contract were also discussed in detail. The old operating company was unable to provide any evaluable data to punish illegal parking, which ultimately led to this decision.
The company Arivo GmbH from Graz was won as a new partner. By integrating a modern system that relies on cameras for license plate recognition and cashless payment options, the aim is to make parking space use more efficient. The net investment costs for the new hardware amount to 28,445 euros, although the city can sell the old devices for around 10,000 euros. The costs for dismantling and returning the old hardware will also be borne by the city.
Efficient parking space management
Future parking lot users can look forward to a barrier-free parking system. The meeting also discussed alternatives such as barriers, parking discs or app solutions. However, these were considered less advantageous as they would entail higher personnel costs and revenues would likely be lower. A total revenue of 19,182 euros was recorded from the car park for 2024, with a high proportion of 73% paid by card, while 14% were paid in cash and almost 13% via a parking app.
Mobility Hub Parkservice GmbH not only ensures compliance with the rules, but also uses scanner-based license plate recognition to monitor the use of the parking area. In the event of violations, such as exceeding the maximum parking time, the vehicle owners are identified and appropriate payment requests are sent. This not only contributes to the legal use of parking spaces, but also increases efficiency in parking space management.
Digital solutions for the future
With the new technology, which also includes a smart guidance system, users will be able to find free parking spaces more quickly. These innovative options have the potential to significantly increase user satisfaction by enabling a smooth parking process. Automation and digital space monitoring should also significantly reduce administrative effort and enable a smooth flow of traffic, as prm-parken.de explains.
In summary, this change of operator brings a breath of fresh air to parking space management in Oberndorf. With a modern and service-oriented approach, the use of the Wettestraße car park will be significantly improved for both residents and visitors. Environmental protection and efficiency are on the agenda, and the city will keep an eye on implementing the new technology in the coming months.
The future of parking in Oberndorf looks promising, and affected users will be excited to see how digital transformation will change their driving experiences.
