Hüfingen says goodbye to Margot Schwoerer: A heart for the little ones

An era is coming to an end in Hüfingen. Margot Schwoerer, who has been working as a self-employed master hairdresser for an impressive 35 years, is now going into her well-deserved retirement. Today her customers had the opportunity to say goodbye to the committed entrepreneur and take a look at the numerous memories of their time together. As schwarzwaelder-bote.de reports, Schwörer looks back gratefully on the eventful time in her hairdressing salon.

A special highlight in her career was the “Hairdressing at Night” charity campaign that she initiated. This brilliant idea came about in 2004 after a television report about children with cancer. Over the years she was able to collect several thousand euros for Haiti Aid and the support association for children with cancer in Freiburg. The seniors at the nursing home also didn't miss out when SSchwörer lent a hand free of charge to beautify their hair at Easter and Christmas. Her hairdressing team, known as “Haarlekin”, regularly gave up their own income in order to generate donations and be active for a good cause.

Social responsibility in crafts

A core topic that drives not only Margot Schwörer, but also many of her colleagues, is social commitment. As the Friseurhandwerk lists, the hairdresser Claus Niedermaier in Biberach was awarded the Mittelstandspreis for his outstanding social commitment. He offers free haircuts for homeless and needy people and founded the Barber Angels Brotherhood in 2016, an initiative that, similar to Schwörer's commitment, focuses on the social responsibility of the trade.

But that's not all there is to report in the region. On July 22, 2025, the award ceremony for the 19th Lea SME Prize for social responsibility in Baden-Württemberg took place in Stuttgart. The competition, which is aimed at companies with up to 500 employees, highlights the commitment to social projects. A total of 221 applications were submitted this year and the winners were honored in various categories. Diakonie Baden lists the award-winning companies: the hairdresser Figaro Claus, the Weinimport Peter Riegel GmbH and the Kur- und Bäder GmbH Bad Dürrheim.

A new phase of life

For Margot Schwoerer, retirement not only means saying goodbye to her professional passion, but also looking forward to new adventures. She and her husband are planning a vacation trip to South Tyrol. Her customers, who appreciated her dedication and commitment, left numerous thank you letters expressing their special appreciation for all the wonderful hours in the salon. In Hüfingen, their commitment will certainly be remembered and will inspire many people to take action as well.
