On November 2, 2025, Martina Schneider took on the role of the new regional association spokesperson for the Black Forest-Baar-Heuberg regional association. In her inaugural speech, she expressed her delight at the trust placed in her and the opportunity to continue the valuable work of her predecessor, Tamer Öteles. This appointment is of great importance because the regional association is intended to make the voices of the district associations and member organizations heard in the region and to promote social services. The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg regional association was founded in spring 2019 and is made up of the three district associations Rottweil, Tuttlingen and Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis. It is particularly well known that all chairmen of the district associations work on a voluntary basis. In addition to Martina Schneider, who heads the Rottweil district association, these are Marcus Abel for Tuttlingen and Alfred Zahn for Schwarzwald-Baar. In their speeches, representatives of the district associations praised their voluntary commitment, which makes an important contribution to strengthening the social structures in the region.
Objectives of the regional association
A central concern of the regional association is to improve the visibility and external impact of the joint welfare association in the region. This association is one of the six recognized leading associations for independent welfare in Germany and operates independently of denomination and party. With over 940 independent member organizations and around 2,000 social services, around 50,000 volunteers and 80,000 full-time employees are involved in Baden-Württemberg.
A further step towards improving social services was initiated by the current municipalization process, which was initiated by the Baden-Württemberg State Association. The aim is to optimize the networking of all municipal offers and to promote exchange between active associations so that everyone can benefit from the best possible offers.
