Öfinger Musikverein celebrates 70 years with a big concert: A feast for the senses!

What a festive evening in Öfingen! The Öfingen Music and Traditional Costume Association recently celebrated its 70th birthday with an annual concert and there was great joy. The event, which attracted several hundred guests, was opened by chairwoman Christina Engesser, who promised everyone present a carefree evening full of music. Südkurier reports On this special occasion, Engesser also talked about the founding of the club by a group of young men in 1955.

The club's brass youth group, under the direction of Nils Rapp, opened the concert with the “Jupiter Hymn” and Ennio Salvere's PC Suite and received great applause for their inspiring performance of John Lennon's “Imagine”. The achievements of young musicians were also recognized at the event: Konstanze Kremm, Hanna Butschle and Isabell Zeller received the junior badge, while Nina Nopper and Tim Eiting were honored with the bronze achievement badge.

A musical celebration of diversity

The second part of the concert continued the momentum and began with the “Stockholm Waterfestival”. Under the direction of Markus Müller, the orchestra presented the piece “Sign of the Times”, followed by a rousing medley from the musical “The Lion King”. The global hit “Music” by John Miles also found its place in the program, while the concert's finale with music by the legendary Swedish pop group Abba invited guests to sing along. The official part was rounded off with a polka and the Badnerlied in the form of an encore.

Since its beginnings, the Öfingen music and traditional costume association, which was founded in 1955, has pursued the goal of strengthening the joy of active music, promoting brass music, as well as camaraderie and community. bv-schwarzwaldbaar.de highlights that the club also wears the traditional “Protestant costume of the Baar” in order to preserve the cultural heritage. These traditional costumes, originally only for men, were expanded to include women's versions in 1989 and place great value on stylish and attractive presentation.

Honors and great community

Another highlight of the evening was the honoring of long-standing active and passive members. Christina Engesser received recognition for her 30 years of active participation. Ramona Mink and Helwig Butschle were honored for their 30 and 40 years of passive membership, respectively, while conductor Markus Müller also received an award for 25 years in office. The association currently has 61 active, 71 passive and 61 honorary members.

The club has been dedicated to supporting young musicians since 2015, and the brass youth meet regularly for rehearsals, performances and excursions. With these tireless efforts and participation in regional events, the Öfingen music and traditional costume association ensures a high level of community spirit and cultural exchange. The members, who range from small to large, share a passion for music and contribute to the club's musical diversity.

The annual concert was not only an event to celebrate a milestone birthday, but also a symbol of the cohesion and joy that music brings to the community.
