Rotary Club supports Villingerin: Hesse immortalized on stage!
There was a very special round of applause in Tübingen when the premiere of Anna-Janina Remsperger's Singspiel about the famous poet Hermann Hesse took place. Remsperger, known as the former singer of the Villinger Klosterspatzen, was able to realize her heart's project with the active support of the Rotary Club. In the spring, the club organized a chanson evening in aid of the Schwenninger Tafel, where an impressive 10,000 euros were collected in order to realize the artist's creative vision. This initiative shows how committed the Rotary Club is to the community and that it has promoted and supported sustainable projects since its founding in 1905 by Paul P. Harris. According to Rotary International, today the club operates with over 46,000 member clubs worldwide and has a mission to serve others while promoting understanding and peace.
Remsperger's Singspiel focuses on a fictional dialogue between Hermann Hesse and his muse, who takes him on his final journey. Full of humorous dialogues and poetic songs, the piece provides an impressive retrospective of Hesse's life and work. Anno Köhler slipped into the role of the great writer and brought his complex personality to the stage. The audience was enthusiastic and rewarded the performance with a standing ovation, which was a fitting conclusion to this cultural event and touched many spectators.

Such events strengthen togetherness and promote the region's artistic spirit, while at the same time promoting social projects. The wide range of commitments and international networks of Rotarians make them an indispensable part of civil society.
