The local council has decided that the existing well 2 must be renovated or rebuilt. This becomes necessary because the fountain is about 100 meters away from the bubbling fountain. To ensure the quality of the water, a newly constructed test well will be flushed at this potential replacement site. This flushing is intended to make the water germ-free before the fountain is put into operation.

Sustainability in water management

A major goal of this measure is to test the behavior of the groundwater at this point, and the measure was approved by the district office. The water that results from the flush is returned to the natural cycle. This is a closed system that shows how important it is to use water sustainably - an issue that is more urgent than ever today.

Water resources are at risk worldwide. Against this background, the federal government adopted the National Water Strategy on March 15, 2023. With a total of 78 measures that are to be implemented gradually by 2030, the strategy aims, among other things, to ensure natural water balances and to further develop water management. While preparatory work for a new drinking water fountain is already in full swing in Bad Saulgau, it remains a challenge for all cities to find creative solutions to preserve and promote the water cycle. Together with the measures mentioned, a rethink is necessary for sustainable water consumption. Ultimately, there is something to be said: awareness of water as a resource must be increased in order to avoid future conflicts and bottlenecks.
