Tuttlingen's beer history is not only of interest to barley juice lovers, but also contains numerous anecdotes and connections that can be explored on the next adventure tour under the motto "Mariele, the border crosser". On Sunday, July 20th, from 4 p.m., Mariele invites you to an exciting journey through time through the city's beer tradition. The tour lasts about two hours and costs 27 euros per person, including a beer tasting. Registration is required and can be done at [email protected] or by calling Sibylle Laufer on 0157 84 147 176.

Over 150 years ago, Tuttlingen was a true beer stronghold with no less than 35 breweries, inns and taverns. During the tour, Mariele will not only shed light on the economic aspects, but also explain the professional connections between brewers, innkeepers, bakers and coopers. She receives support from her friend Agatha, who could possibly be helpful in researching the history of brewing and business. These unique stories and local brewing traditions will immerse participants in a completely different time.

A look into the past

The event takes visitors back to 1868. Not only the famous breweries are on the program, but also the importance of snacks and beer. Questions about the role of the “Schlüssel” inn in the revolution and the requirements of the Engels inn are discussed. The event is not only a treat for the palate, but also a solid history lesson that delves deeply into the historical and cultural significance of beer in Tuttlingen.

As part of the anniversary year “500 Years of the Purity Law”, there is also another interesting event on Friday, September 30th. City guide Mathias Schwarz will introduce participants to the history of Tuttlingen's breweries and Schildwirtschaften on a special tour. On this tour, which begins at the main entrance to the town hall at 6 p.m., participants can look forward to hidden clues and lore. It is also possible to bring in your own memories and anecdotes. The participation fee is a moderate 4.50 euros for adults; children can come along free of charge.

The first beer tour in February of this year was already very well attended and positive and gave the participants an entertaining time. Such events not only help preserve traditions, but also strengthen local cohesion and interest in the history of Tuttlingen. So if you're looking for a special experience, you shouldn't miss the beer tour with the border crosser, because there's a lot to discover here.
