HSV victory in Oldenburg: Ramos scores late and brings the victory!

Hamburger SV put itself in the spotlight with a 2-1 win in the friendly against VfB Oldenburg on July 6th, 2025. The game in the Marschwegstadion, which was watched by 10,000 spectators, brought exciting moments and an in-form HSV that fought back from an early deficit.

Oldenburg took the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from Mats Facklam. But the people of Hamburg didn't let themselves be disturbed. In the 72nd minute, Jean-Luc Dompé equalized, and shortly before the final whistle, Guilherme Ramos, who had previously played on loan for CD Santa Clara in Portugal, scored the much-celebrated winning goal in the 87th minute.

An exciting test match for HSV

Coach Merlin Polzin had decided to rest some key players. Rayan Philippe and Nicolai Remberg, who made their debut the day before in the impressive 8-1 win against TSV Elstorf, only served as spectators for the team that day. HSV was able to unleash a real flood of goals in the game against Elstorf, in which Robert Glatzel drew attention with three goals.

The test match between HSV and VfB Oldenburg was not only a sporting event, it was also broadcast free of charge on the HSV YouTube channel and on HSVtv, while Sky broadcast the game live. VfB Oldenburg, which finished in 11th place in the Regionalliga Nord last season and was previously relegated from the 3rd league, had some players in its ranks who were once active in the HSV youth or U21 teams.

Vahid Hashemian in new realms

In another exciting football story, Vahid Hashemian, a former HSV player, has now been hired as head coach at FC Persepolis in Iran. His career is now attracting attention again while he is also taking part in DFB professional license courses. Hashemian will complete an internship at Bayern Munich, which is a special honor as the club did not accept interns for this program in the past. He will be integrated into the Bundesliga club's training routine under coach Pep Guardiola.

The future of German football

With regard to the national team, Julian Nagelsmann took over the role of national football coach in September 2023, replacing Hansi Flick. Under Flick, the German team was able to achieve 12 wins in 25 games, but has had to look back on many disappointments in past tournaments. Nagelsmann, who is considered one of the most successful coaches in recent years, brings a breath of fresh air to the team. His goal is to put the Bundesliga and the national team on a new path to success, especially with a view to the upcoming European Championship in 2024.

Germany leads the all-time European Championship table having won three tournaments so far and hopes to improve its record at the next home European Championship. Recent results have been disappointing, particularly the narrow quarter-final exit against Spain.
