New clinic in Albbruck: 8.8 million euros in funding for the future!

Today there is a celebration in Albbruck! The state of Baden-Württemberg supported the construction of the new clinic with additional funding of 8.8 million euros. This good news comes shortly after the design planning was completed landkreis-waldshut.de reported. Social Minister Manfred Lucha handed over the symbolic check to District Administrator Dr. Martin Kistler, who sees the new clinic building as a real flagship project for the region.

The grant is the second planning installment after the first installment of 6 million euros was approved in 2021. Minister Lucha emphasizes the immense importance of the structural implementation of this project, which is intended to complete the structural concentration measures in the Waldshut district. “We have a good hand at improving health care in our region,” said the minister at the handover in a model room of the future hospital in Dogern.

An important step into the future of healthcare

The new central hospital is scheduled to be completed by 2030. The first construction work to develop the site in Albbruck is planned for spring 2026. “With the new clinic we can sustainably strengthen health care,” emphasizes Dr. Hans-Peter Schlaudt, Managing Director of Klinikum Hochrhein GmbH. The model rooms in the commercial hall, which are intended to give a first impression of the new clinic, will be viewed by both employees and citizens.

An application for additional funding is currently being finalized. After approving the funds and receiving the building permit, the district council can probably make the building decision next year. As soon as everything is finalized, construction work on the new clinic could start as early as 2027.

Investing in healthcare

But investments are not only made in Albbruck. baden-wuerttemberg.de informed that the state government is investing a total of 248 million euros in the state's health care system in the 2025/2026 double budget. The flat-rate funding for hospitals will be increased from 160 to 233 million euros in 2025 and is expected to rise to up to 301 million euros in 2026.

The 2025 hospital construction program focuses on modernizing and strengthening healthcare in several cities, including Albbruck, Balingen, Ehingen, Esslingen and more. The largest projects are taking place in Ehingen, Esslingen and Offenburg, where, among other things, a new logistics center for the Ortenau clinics is planned.

The challenges facing hospitals in Baden-Württemberg are enormous, emphasizes Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann. The transformation process of the hospital landscape is in full swing and is being significantly supported by the funding provided Sozialministerium.baden-wuerttemberg.de highlights.
