Clean Waldshut-Tiengen: Together against garbage on September 20th!
On September 20th the time has come: The city of Waldshut-Tiengen, together with the Klettgau Cleaners Tiengen, the Klimenz association and the Generation Dialogue, is inviting people to a big clean-up campaign. This initiative is intended not only to ensure a clean cityscape, but also to raise awareness of the waste problem. The meeting points are at 10 a.m. at the town hall in Waldshut and the lion monument in Tiengen, where participants can get active by collecting garbage. The event ends at 12 p.m., followed by a convivial snack.
Silke Padova, head of the children and youth department, emphasizes that the focus is on safety and the fun factor when collecting garbage. The organization allows participants to choose their own area to collect trash. Garbage bags are available at the collection point. This also sends a strong signal to the community: Mayor Martin Gruner emphasizes how important volunteer work is, especially when it comes to involving younger generations. According to estimates by Reiner Jehle, head of the construction depot, around 35 cubic liters of waste is generated in the city every week, around 60 percent of which is third-party waste.
Active for a clean Waldshut-Tiengen
The clean-up campaign is not just intended to pass the time, but rather to provide an impetus to think about waste avoidance and disposal. Andreas Otte from Klettgau Cleaners Tiengen emphasizes that such actions help to increase awareness of the problem. The next generational dialogue, planned for March 21, 2026, is intended to promote networking between groups and initiatives. The aim is to develop joint solutions to improve the quality of life in the city, as well as the topics that have been the focus of previous dialogues.
In total, over 40 groups experienced a platform in the Waldshut town hall over the last two years. The next generational dialogue will take place on March 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Tiengen. To better prepare for these discussions, two preliminary meetings have been scheduled. The first preliminary meeting will take place on January 23rd in the meeting room of the Tiengen town hall.
All of these actions and dialogues show how committed Waldshut-Tiengen is to working towards a clean future. The flyers for the clean-up campaign and the intergenerational dialogue will be distributed from the end of August in several languages, including English, Italian, Turkish, Arabic and Ukrainian. And citizens are also in demand: helpers are welcome from 9 a.m. to distribute materials. Everyone can bring their own utensils.
