Information evening in Altötting: Become a hospice companion – it’s that easy!

The next step is being prepared in Altötting for everyone interested in hospice work. OnFebruary 13, 2026The Hospice Association in the Altötting District e.V. invites you to a free information evening that would like to provide an understanding of the general conditions and content of training to become a hospice companion. Anyone who has a good feel for people and would like to volunteer in this valuable area has come to the right place. The topics of the information evening are diverse. What does hospice actually mean and what aspects does hospice work involve? These and other questions are the focus of the event. The new training series is divided into two parts: a basic course and an advanced course, which is offered all year round. The course times are Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Course and content of the training

The training includes a total of eight course dates spread over the year 2026. Here are some of the important dates:

  • 9./10. Oktober
  • 20./21. November

In order to gain a comprehensive insight into the topics of hospice support, participants are provided with essential content such as ethical and legal questions, communication strategies and the challenges of hospice work. The curriculum also includes valuable aspects such as palliative care and grief support, which are fundamental building blocks in hospice work. Training in Austria

The training to become a volunteer hospice attendant does not only take place in Germany, there are also well-structured programs in Austria. There, the volunteer hospice attendants are trained according to a recognized curriculum from HOSPIZ AUSTRIA. This training consists of at least 80 teaching units and 40 hours of internship, with the focus on communication with seriously ill people and their relatives.
