Attention parents: Free online evening of digital games!
In today's digital world, it is crucial for parents to be well-informed about online gaming and the challenges it presents. A free parent evening will provide exactly this information. On October 27, 2025 at 7 p.m., the Amberg-Sulzbach Municipal Youth Work (KoJa AS), the Amberg Municipal Youth Work (KoJa AM) and the Bavarian Media Education Foundation invite you to a digital event entitled “Digital Games – Fascination, Risks and Opportunities”.
The target group are parents and carers of children and young people between the ages of 10 and 14. The event will provide valuable insights into the media worlds of the younger generation and at the same time offer advice on how to use online offerings in an age-appropriate manner. Topics such as excessive gaming, violence in games, possible dangers in chats and online contacts, data misuse, cost traps, bullying and harassment are dealt with intensively. The aim is to support parents in using their children responsibly with digital games, as oberpfalzecho.de reports.
Important information about the event
The format of the event will be held online via the Zoom platform. Interested parents can register by email to jugendarbeit@amberg.de to take part in this important event. More up-to-date information about the event can also be found at smz-karlsruhe.de.
Parents' evenings on media prevention are also in demand far beyond Amberg. They offer information about the responsible use of digital media and focus on the current challenges that children and young people are facing. Topics such as healthy screen time, the right time to have your own smartphone and the safe use of social media are in the foreground, which is also confirmed by medienschutz.ch.
Insight into media education
The events are led by experienced media educators and include lectures, practical examples and interactive discussion groups. The offer is aimed not only at parents, but also at grandparents and other legal guardians who would like to gain a better understanding of the risks and opportunities of the digital media world.
A particularly important aspect is recognizing and preventing media addiction. Parents receive valuable tips on warning signals and support options to accompany their children safely through the digital jungle. It also emphasizes how important good role models and clear rules regarding media use are in order to positively influence children's behavior.
If you as a parent want to stay up to date and be prepared for the challenges of the digital world, you should not miss this opportunity. Finally, it is time to take action into your own hands and have a positive influence on your children's media consumption.
