Factory of Champions: 188 medals in sport shooting in the district!

The 37th District Shooting Championships took place on October 31, 2025, and the event was a complete success. Almost 500 participants, especially from the youth range, came together to show their skills and a total of 188 awards were presented to the best shooters. The Erras country inn in Fichtenhof provided the celebratory setting for the award ceremony, which was led by tournament director Matthias Schmidt. He welcomed prominent guests such as district rifleman Heinrich Fraunholz and OSB Vice President Josef Diertl, who expressed their appreciation to the participants. Robert Graf and Stephanie Winter from the district's sports promotion department were also present and expressed their support for shooting sports. Schmidt thanked the numerous helpers, without whom the championship would not have been possible. Robert Graf spoke on behalf of District Administrator Richard Reisinger and thanked all participants and supporters for their commitment.

The Paulsdorf shooting company had the largest field of participants with 32 shooters, followed by Gemütlichkeit Tanzfleck with 29 and Ehenbachtaler Holzhammer, which brought 26 starters. In an impressive performance, several shooters secured the royal title. Tobias Schmidl from the Hüttenschützen Massenricht became king of the air rifle shooters with a 62.6-part, while Manfred Lehner from the SG Neumühle triumphed in both air rifle and air pistol shooting with a 10.7-part. Magdalena Rosenblatt from SG Neumühle also received a special title, standing out as a district Schützenliesl with a 30.0 score.

Youth shooters in action

The competition not only offered a stage for experienced shooters, but also for the youngest. Marlis Döbereiner from Gemütlichkeit Tanzfleck became youth queen in the air rifle with a 32.0 rifle. These successes are proof of how important it is to support young people in sport in particular. After all, the future of shooting sports lies with younger people, and events like this motivate them to take part. In addition, Moritz Nißlein from SG 1912 Neukirchen was able to win in the air pistol category with a score of 458.4, and Ben Krusch secured the title in the new light rifle/pistol classification with a score of 212.8.

Sport and health

The enthusiasm for shooting sports in the region is also reflected in the general tendency that sport makes an important contribution to health. Around 70 percent of Germans rate their health well-being as good or very good, and over 80 percent do sport to promote health. Statistics show that regular exercise reduces the risk of various diseases. However, lack of physical activity can have health consequences ranging from obesity to serious illnesses such as cancer. What is particularly striking is the influence of education and income levels on sports activity, where higher education is often associated with more sporting involvement. Children from financially better-off families have the best opportunities to meet the WHO recommendation of 60 minutes of exercise per day, while resources are often lacking for lower-income families.

The outstanding performances at the district championships not only show the sporting ambition of the participants, but also how important sporting activities are for the community. Enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit characterize the shooting societies, which should be further promoted through such events. The shooters' successes and the large number of participants are an incentive for future competitions in Amper shooting sports and beyond.
