FCA Water Days: Students experience exciting water adventures!
An exciting week for the youngest researchers took place in Augsburg! From July 7th to 10th, 2025, around 200 students in grades 7 and 8 were able to expand their knowledge about the valuable commodity water as part of the FCA Water Days. This event took place in close cooperation with the Pure Water for Generations e.V. association. V. took place and attracted interested parties to the Business Club and the Cineplex in Königsbrunn, where the opening was celebrated with the impressive documentary “2467 km – A Journey into the Black Sea” by Pascal Rösler. This was the start of an educational program that focused on water as a resource and was part of FC Augsburg's sustainability strategy. The motto “Build bridges. Move people. Protect the environment.” is the focus.
But why is water actually so important? A look at the facts shows: Water is the basis of all life. Without water we cannot exist. It is crucial for drinking water supplies, agricultural production, energy production and even the transportation of goods. As bmbf.de reports, water shortages and pollution threaten not only people, but also entire ecosystems. After all, around 2.2 billion people do not have access to clean water and frequent water crises can even increase social tensions and conflicts.
Versatile experience stations
As part of the FCA Water Days, the students were able to take part in an excursion to Lech Dam 23 – Lake Mandichose. Various learning and experience stations awaited them here, which included a variety of topics relating to the water cycle, the causes and consequences of water pollution and creative water images. A very special attraction was the yoga trip, which was intended to relax and sensitize the participants at the same time.
Despite the mixed weather conditions, no one missed the final stand-up paddle tour. It was a complete success and the enthusiasm of the students was clearly noticeable. The lively atmosphere and the variety of activities ensured that everyone involved really gave their all. Thanks therefore go to all those involved, especially the teachers, volunteers and the Pure Water for Generations team.
Sustainable perspectives
The focus of the event was clearly on sustainable water management. [bmbf.de]. With the federal program “Water: N”, the federal government is making 350 million euros available for pioneering research. In this way, we not only set an example, but also actively work on solutions to counteract the challenges posed by climate change and water crises.
Overall, the FCA Water Days not only gave the students a great time, but also gave them a sense of the urgency and complexity of the topic of water. At a time when water problems are becoming more and more pressing, it is even more important that young people are made aware of the importance of this resource.
