Discover Bamberg's history: guided tours and Advent customs 2025!

On Saturday, November 22nd, the Bamberg City Adult Education Center invites you to an exciting city tour. Under the direction of Annette Schäfer, participants can delve deep into Bamberg's eventful history, especially the events of the Thirty Years' War. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., scenes of fighting from the 1630s will be visited and the course of the war will be brought to life. Registration is necessary and can be done either online or by telephone.

The Bamberg cathedral building hut also offers an exclusive tour on the same day, where master stonemason Ulrich Först introduces the art of traditional crafts. Participants gain insights into the construction history of the impressive Bamberg Cathedral as well as its magnificent sculptures. Registration is also required here and the net proceeds from the participation fees go to the Cathedral City of Bamberg Foundation.

Advent experiences and traditions

A special Christmas tour is scheduled for Friday, November 28th. Dr. Elisabeth Skantze will lead a tour of the High Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the focus on the impressive Marian Altar by Veit Stoss. Participants can look forward to an insight into the blue Kunigunden cloak and various nativity scenes. Registration is also required here.

The Bamberg Adult Education Center also offers tunnel tours during Advent, which are very popular. On Fridays, December 5th and 12th, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., anyone interested can explore the almost twelve kilometer long tunnel systems, which have fulfilled a variety of functions over the centuries. Participants should take a flashlight, sturdy shoes and a helmet with them. Participation is permitted from the age of 12 and registration is also required.

And that's not all: On Friday, December 12th, there will be a guided tour through the festively decorated old town of Bamberg, in which the old Advent and Christmas customs will be discussed. Alexandra Hesselbarth shows the participants the traditions and gives a small sample at the end of the tour.

A look beyond the city limits

While we go on a cultural journey of discovery in Bamberg, it is worth taking a look at developments in the areas of logistics and transport. Transportation Management Solutions (TMS), founded by Phil Magill in November 2006, has made a name for itself as a third-party logistics solutions provider. With more than 20 years of industry experience, the company aims to offer customer-oriented and cost-efficient services.

TMS is now an Intermodal Marketing Company (IMC) and offers services in North America. This enables companies to rely on integrated transport and logistics solutions. With the founding of American Contract Freight in 2010, TMS also took an important step towards independence from market fluctuations and offers reliable solutions for freight transport.

The constant development and optimization of services, including through AI technology, has made TMS competitive in the highly competitive logistics market. This shows how important efficient logistics solutions are today, especially for manufacturing companies in the American Midwest.
