Hamburg's basketball players disappointed again: clear defeat against Bamberg!

In front of a full house in the Inselpark Arena, Veolia Towers suffered another bitter defeat. With 71:101, the Hamburg team lost out to the BMA365 Bamberg Baskets. This game marks the eleventh defeat of the season for Veolia Towers and is causing noticeable frustration in the team.

The first half still brought hope: According to head coach Benka Barloschky, the game was initially reasonable. But the coach complained that his team didn't show enough penetration in the second half and didn't reward themselves. Niklas Wimberg, who was the game's top scorer with 14 points, described the second half as catastrophic and frustrating. Kenneth Ogbe, another top performer, also spoke of a noticeable decline in team performance.

Key moments of the game

The game started optimistically with 3,069 fans supporting the team with an impressive clapping choreo. But Bamberg quickly laid the foundation for victory and took an early double-digit lead. The Towers fought their way to four points, but lost the momentum before the quarter break (18:24). Things got tough in the second half: captain Benedikt Turudić picked up his fourth foul early on and had to go to the bench, while US guard LJ Thorpe was injured at the start and was unable to return to the game.

The gap eventually grew to an impressive 25 points, which significantly dampened the mood. At the end of the third quarter it was already 51:73 for Bamberg. Things also got tricky for some players like JP Tokoto and Kenneth Ogbe as they too received their fourth booking.

It will now be crucial for Veolia Towers to learn from this defeat and play better in the next games. The support of the fans is still there. Now we can only hope that the team can quickly get back to its original strength. Despite the current low, head coach Barloschky has recognized the potential in his team and wants to further promote it in the next few weeks. After all, the season is not over yet and the team still has every opportunity to change course.
