Have a say in the future: The new Bamberg app in focus!
A lot is happening in Bamberg when it comes to the digitalization of the city. On Tuesday, July 22nd, all citizens are cordially invited to take part in an exciting participation event about the new city app. This takes place in Stadt:Raum, Promenadestraße 6a, directly at the ZOB, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is not just about presenting the app, but also about exchanging information about its functions and benefits for the city community. Loud in Franconia Anyone interested can contribute their ideas and try out the prototype directly.
The Bamberg app will be part of the comprehensive “Smart City Bamberg” project, which aims to develop digital solutions that offer Bamberg residents real added value. The planned functions include online services from the city administration, a cultural events calendar and the innovative “Here & Now” function, which shows insider tips from the region. Anyone who would like to register by July 20th can do so by email or telephone. Short-term participation is also possible.
A place for new ideas
On the same evening, the Smart City get-together will take place at Brauhaus Sternla from 6:30 p.m., where ideas for the app can also be developed. Participants also gain insight into the cooperation between the city and the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg, which deals intensively with the topic of Smart City. Accompanying studies and test balloons are intended to test the feasibility of the project ideas smartcity.bamberg.de reported.
Another Smart City Initiative project that is generating widespread interest is the “Safe City” research project. This examines how citizens' feelings of security appear in public spaces. There will even be a short survey on subjective feelings of security, for which participants have the chance to win one of 50 Bamberg City checks worth 10 euros each. The contact for questions about this survey is Ronja Rösler from the University of Bamberg.
A concept for the future
The Smart City concept is closely linked to the goal of using modern technologies to improve the quality of life. The Forum Publisher emphasizes that digital technologies should not only increase efficiency, but also offer sustainable solutions. Of course, challenges such as data protection and cybersecurity are inevitable. This makes it all the more important to specifically involve citizens and take their needs into account when developing smart city strategies.
Bamberg is setting a good example and showing how urban development can be consistently implemented in the digital era. In the last few months, several Smart Weeks have taken place in various parts of the city to inform the population about digitalization. We worked with many local institutions to make the topic tangible. This shows that Bamberg has a real sense for the future and the needs of its citizens.
